The University of Sheffield is recruiting a full-time Research Associate in Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing for an 18-month fixed-term post in the GATE team, focused on developing explainable ML and NLP methods to detect and analyse online misinformation, evaluate chatbot and AI search accuracy, and deliver robust tools for large-scale social media streams. The role (salary £39,560–£43,099, hybrid, closing 8 November 2026) requires a PhD (or near completion) in NLP, ML or computational social science, strong publications, and hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks, LLMs and explainable methods
